One of the most awaited smartphones of this year, the Xiaomi Mi 5 has finally been announced. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has announced their latest flagship smartphone at the MWC event in Barcelona, Spain.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a 5.15-inch Full HD display with curved glass, and 600 nits brightness. The rear of the smartphone has a 16-Megapixel camera with the Sony IMX298 sensor, dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and 4K recording capabilities. While the front has a 4-Megapixel camera with 2um pixel size. The rear camera also features 4-axis OIS, Spectra image processor, phase-detection auto-focus and DTI pixel isolation.
The Mi 5 runs on a Snapdragon 820 64-bit processor along with Adreno 530 GPU and 3GB/4GB RAM, and a 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 powers the entire package. The phone is claimed to provide 2.5 hours of talk time with just five minutes of charge. The phone has Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s own MIUI 7. It is the company’s first Android 6.0 powered smartphone.
It comes in three variants, 3GB+32GB with 1.8GHz SoC, 3GB+64GB and 4GB+128 with 2.5GHz SoC. The rear of the smartphone has a 3D Glass body with strong glass. The Xiaomi Mi 5 design looks like something Xiaomi Mi Note Pro. It also comes in Mi 5 Pro ceramic edition.
The phone features 4G LTE connectivity, Dual SIM (nano + nano), Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, Bluetooth, Fingerprint Sensor, Infrared sensor and USB Type-C port and all the basic connectivity features. The phone is just 7.25mm thick and weighs in at 129g, and 139g (Ceremic edition).
The Mi 5 will be available in Black, Gold and White color variants and cost 1999 Yuan (USD 306 approx) for the 32GB, 2299 Yuan (USD 351 approx) for the 64GB, and 2699 Yuan (USD 413 approx) for the 128GB variant. The Xiaomi Mi 5, a mid-ranger smartphone with high-end features will be a good value for money phone. It will soon be available in India.
