OPPO, the company just announced two new high-end smartphones called the Oppo R9 and Oppo R9 Plus in China. Both devices feature the same 4GB RAM, MicroSD card slot (support up to 128GB), Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with ColorOS 3.0, and a Fingerprint sensor on the front just below the display.
The storage capacity of the Oppo R9 is 64GB while the R9 Plus will be available in two storage versions, one with 64GB and another with 128GB. They also have several similar features including WiFi (dual-band), Bluetooth and GPS.
Both devices offer Hybrid Dual SIM with support for 4G LTE with VoLTE connectivity. Both the handsets support ‘VOOC flash charge’ similar to other Oppo smartphones that offer 2 hours of talk time with only five minutes of charge.
The Oppo R9 packs a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, runs on an Octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor along with 700MHz Mali T860MP2 GPU and powered by a 2850mAh battery. The rear of the handset sports a 13MP camera with 80.6-degree wide-angle lens, f/2.2 aperture and LED Flash. The Oppo R9 measures 151.8×74.3×6.6mm and weighs in at 145 grams.
On the other hand, the Oppo R9 Plus features a 6-inch Full HD AMOLED display, 4120mAh battery and is powered by a Snapdragon 652 (620) Octa Core processor coupled with Adreno 510 GPU. It comes equipped with a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX298, f/2.0 aperture and LED Flash. Its measures are 163.1×80.78×7.4mm and weigh 185 grams.
The Oppo R9 and R9 Plus both are capable to record 4K videos and have phase detection autofocus. The smartphones also have a 16MP front-facing camera with 78.1-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.0 aperture.

The Oppo R9 has 77.68% screen-to-body ratio and 1.66mm ultra-narrow frame, while the R9 Plus feature 79.3% screen-to-body ratio. Both these phones come with the same design with 6063 aluminium alloy body and will be available in two color options – Rose Gold and Golden colors.
In terms of pricing, the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus will cost 2799 Yuan (US$ 430 approx.) and 3299 Yuan (US$ 410 approx.) respectively. The R9 will go on sale starting from March 24 and it’s already on pre-order in China, whereas the Oppo R9 Plus sales start April 12th. Currently, there’s no word on its global release.
