Gionee unveiled its new logo along with the company’s latest flagship smartphone, Gionee S8 – at the MWC event in Barcelona last week. The Gionee S8 comes with high-end feature – 3D touch, pressure sensitive display, similar to Apple iPhone 6s, but is more limited, it can sense 3 levels of force including press down with more force to open menus and previews.
The Gionee S8 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display with sharp and bright 1920 x 1080 resolution, and 401ppi. The display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Under the hood, the Gionee S8 packs an Octa-Core MediaTeck Helio P10 processor clocked at 1.9GHz along with with Mali T860MP2 GPU and 4GB of RAM. You will also get a 64GB built-in storage with MicroSD card slot to expand the storage by up to 128GB.
The Gionee S8 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo OS 3.2 on top, and a 3000mAh battery with fast charging technology. The Amigo OS 3.2 has a bunch of new features such as floating window to watch a video while browsing the internet or using Whatsapp, and dual WhatsApp support.
In terms of connectivity, It offers Hybrid Dual SIM (micro + nano/ MicroSD), 4G LTE with VoLTE and basic connectivity options including WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth. The Gionee S8 also has DTS audio and Fingerprint sensor.
There’s a 16-Megapixel rear camera with LED flash, laser autofocus, Phase Detection Autofocus, an aperture of f/1.2, and 6P lenses. It also sports a 8-Megapixel front facing camera. The phone comes with the floating window interface, and a loop metal design. It looks like a radical upgrade over 2015’s Gionee S7.

The Gionee S8 will be available in Rose Gold, Gray and Gold colors, and cost 449 Euros (USD approx.). It will go on sale starting end of the March this year.
